Studies with CoQ10 have mostly focused on its benefit involving certain types of cardiovascular diseases, including congestive heart failure and hypertension. However, CoQ10 has also been evaluated for high cholesterol and in diabetes. Patients with high cholesterol levels who are placed on statin drugs such as Lipitor and Zocor should take additional CoQ10 in the amount of 30 to 50 mg daily or a few times a week to counteract the muscle damage from these statin drugs (consult with your doctor). Studies with CoQ10 and Parkinson’s disease have not yielded consistent results. We still have a long way to go to determine the proper clinical role and benefit of CoQ10.

CoQ10 boosts energy, enhances the immune system, and acts as an antioxidant. A growing body of research suggests that using coenzyme Q10 supplements alone or in combination with other drug therapies and nutritional supplements may help prevent or treat some of the following conditions:

  • Heart Disease
  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
  • High Blood Pressure
  • High Cholesterol
  • Diabetes
  • Heart Damage caused by Chemotherapy
  • Breast Cancer
  • Periodontal (gum) Disease

Detoxification is a process that will get you after you lost a lot of weight. Detoxification is something your body does on a daily basis. Like the plumbing in your bathroom, you never think twice about it as long as it is in good working order. As soon as there is a back up of waste any aspect of health can be compromised. What happens in any city when the garbage trucks go on strike?

Trash comes from normal cellular waste products, pollution, digestive imbalance, stress, increased physical activity, poor diet, illness, injury/accidents, prescription medications, smoking, overuse of alcohol, lack of sleep, etc. You must understand the primary systems in your body that remove this trash if you are to manage your health effectively.

Many environmental toxins are fat soluble. When your body can’t clear them effectively they not only disrupt fat soluble hormones and metabolism – but these poisons store in your fat – often promoting weight gain as a defense mechanism against vital organs being poisoned. This poses a problem for individuals who are having difficulty losing weight or breaking through a stubborn weight-loss plateau. Unless detoxification pathways are working correctly weight loss efforts may fail.

Common symptoms of trash removal problems are fatigue, headaches, dark circles or bags under the eyes, irritability (like a poisoned feeling), being too negative too often (like looking at the world through a toxic pair of sunglasses), constipation/diarrhea, hemorrhoids, foul smelling stools, unpleasant body odor, skin problems, dry skin, acne, shoulder tightness, excess mucous, excess congestion, stuffy sinuses, sensitivity to chemicals or fumes, fluid retention, and cellulite formation.

The most basic way to soak up toxins in a bulk manner is by having adequate dietary fiber. This creates a sponge affect – literally absorbing toxins and getting rid of them.

I came to this understanding about a month ago. My weightloss stalled and I was feeling sick like I had a cold or the flu. My shoulder were heavy and I had a headache (cloged lymphnodes). This took about 3 weeks before it was diminishing. Now I understand the fact that the toxins were being released as there was no fat to release anymore.

Last night at the Y.M.C.A. I attended a class called “BodyPump” it was all about strength training and core muscles. Woow it hurts (muscle pain) today but it was a very good class. I specially like the fact that it is something else I’m doing, breaking the daily routine a little. Very intense  for sure. I might end up doing this kind of workouts 3 times a week. I like the variation, keeps it fresh and interesting.

For some people Friday the 13th has a scary or spooky meaning. Not for me. As of today my BMI is totally normal again, for the first time in I think about 10 years. WOW! Shredded another 2 pounds last week. I might correct my goal to a lower weight now because I still have fatty spots I want to get away but I want to replace it with muscle. Will see how that goes. For now Friday the 13th is a good day for me.

I’m not scared of BMI anymore. :)

UPDATE:

I edited my goal to go for 165lbs instead of 170lbs.

I started a new forum to promote The Leptin Diet. Nowadays everybody has their own diet and lifestyle forum to have support and talk about how you do such thing as a Leptin lifestyle. People also want to tell the world it worked for them. Because it is not a low-carb diet or a diet in its nature I did not feel at home at any forum like the low carb-forum, Atkins forum of South Beach forum. The Leptin Diets has his own place in how you can have a better health. So take a look and sign up to the Leptinforum.

Imagine 40 pounds, like the catch this guy is showing, thats the total of my weight lost as of today.

40pounds_fish.jpg

I’m so happy, it feels so good and if I can do it, you can too. You need to commit to it, have a goal, have the determination to do it and follow the rules. Oh in no way I will tell you it is easy because thats not. But if you know why you are doing it just look around you and see the “fat” guys, compare and see yourself in the mirror, you are so glad you started this. Once you start it and have a little success just look forward to the next one. Every pound is a goal and a winning step towards a healthy life. For sure.

Do it, you earn it to yourself and your family who will be proud of you.(My wife loves to touch me more……)

For the first time in many many years I’m below 180 pounds, 179 does not sound that much anymore. Only 6 pounds to go and my BMI score will say “NORMAL” now I’m just “OVERWEIGHT”.

Time for a barbecue (JUST KIDDING!) Nope I keep this thing going for as long as I need and that will probably forever. I was thinking that when I’m around 170 it will be tricky to stay there so it will never end I guess. In the mean time I’m a very happy camper. To bad nobody is reading this blog. :(

Maybe the title is a little confusing but that is what it is. Now I have to figure out what the whole story around LEPTIN is. (See my previous post.) Well all in all I did not do bad and feel I was following the LEPTIN diet as I read how to do it.

leptin_0.gif

There is a lot to say about LEPTIN.  Byron Richards from WelnessResources talks in his book how it works. You can compare LEPTIN as the gas gauge of your car. It is the signaling mechanism that tells your brain to “stop filling the tank because it is full”.  If you are not eating right and not following the 5 rules your communication with your brain will not work the way it is designed. A lot of people are treating there body worse then their car, filling up at every “gas station” they see and making their body fat and go out of sync with the “full” signals.

To fully understand how it works I need to read that book several times. For me it is a eye-opener and there is a lot of common sense how to eat and live healthy without a lot of restrictions, just 5 simple rules. But do not forget to add exercise and sleep without that you are still running into problems.

At the class (see previous post) there were about 50 people while about 300 others signed up on the web. It seems to be that a lot of people are interested in following the leptin diet. You need to have the book to participate, it is not a rule but how can you understand the whole concept without knowing the whole story.

Soon (end of the week) I will tell you some more exciting news about a web community I have setup and where to go.
